Assistant Principal - Staff

The Assistant Principal - Staff is a senior, executive leadership position at Aquinas College. The major purpose of this role is to support staff so that they are able to perform their professional responsibilities as an employee of Aquinas College to the highest standard and to ensure compliance with relevant employment agreements and legislation is maintained.

The Assistant Principal- Staff is accountable to the Principal for the development of a caring and challenging environment which promotes an increasing sense of professionalism within the College.

The successful applicant will have:

  • An understanding of Ministerial Order 870 on Child Safety as it relates to the College's Code of Conduct, policies, procedures and practice.
  • Proven ability and experience in delivering excellent educational outcomes in both teaching and learning.
  • An ability to articulate and action the Mission and Vision and the School Improvement Plan of Aquinas College particularly as it relates to the Well Being dimension.
  •  An understanding of the Victorian Catholic Multi Enterprise Agreement as it relates to the professional work and expectations for all staff including Managing Employee Concerns.
  • An ability to assist staff to collaborate effectively in teams.
  • An ability to assist staff in managing disagreement and resolving conflict.
  • A clear understanding and commitment to the public policy expectations for teacher and staff work incorporating as appropriate the VIT Teaching Standards, CECV/CEM policies and relevant Industrial Awards.
  • An ability to articulate the Vision and Mission for staff professional practice within the context of Aquinas' Catholic identity and evangelising mission.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to the position.
  • A high degree of professionalism.
  • Appropriate qualifications suitable to the role.
