Strategies for Maths
One of the key transition concerns for parents is the difference between expectations and workload in Mathematics compared with primary school. While the skills are transferable many students and parents find this change significant.
In 2017 Aquinas will run information workshops for parents about how to best assist your child in progressing in mathematics. We believe that it is best to provide a hands on experience for parents, so the session groups will be small and the content will be repeated each session. (There will not be assessment for parents, so that should not be a roadblock to attending!)
In term 1 there will be two session times for parents to attend. The focus will be on ‘Strategies for Improved Outcomes’. Each workshop is a repeat session, so parents only need choose one. Sessions will be conducted in the Middle Years building (Rm D1.41) with a limit of 25 parents per session (preferably one parent per child).
The aim of the sessions is to empower parents to establish a regime with their children to succeed in Maths. The sessions will be held in Term 2 on Thursday 27 April & Thursday 11 May - 6:15pm to 7:00pm. We ask that you please be prompt.
We look forward to your involvement in this project. Book a place here.
