ICT & Technology
1:1 Technology (Bring a device)
At Aquinas every student from Years 7 to 9 owns an iPad for class work. Students from Years 10-12 can choose a device to bring for school work depending on their needs. Text books are on the device, students have filtered internet throughout the College and every student has an Aquinas email account. Most communications are made via email and the intranet, Simon, is available at all times for students to receive notices and announcements.
Students in Year 7-9 use the resources provided by this technology; the apps, the camera, the communication tools to enhance their learning and to prepare for a modern technological world. Senior students are able to tailor their technological needs to the subjects they choose.
Aquinas classrooms are designed to be visible. The learning areas, the courses, the homework and the student behaviour are all available for the school community to see. Technology is very important in this project. Students bring their own 1:1 devices with access to email from teachers as well as the intranet that delivers coursework and homework. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards that provide audio visual support that is important in supporting varied and engaging lessons.
IT Resources & Staff
The technology support team, IT@Aquinas, is responsible for all technology at the College. It oversees wireless networks, computer hardware, other technological services, licensing and supporting student and staff users. IT@Aquinas provides advice for future planning of technology and assists parents with technology questions.
