The Aquinas College community congratulates the Class of 2021 for all they have achieved. We are proud of your hard work and dedication.
The VCE results delivered today reflect the work of students who have spent parts of two years learning remotely. The excellent results are a great credit to this group of students, their teachers and the ongoing support offered by their families.
Congratulations to our Class of 2021 on excellent results, with some impressive individual scores from both Year 12 and Year 11 students.
Overall, 31 students gained an ATAR over 90. This is the highest number of students to reach this level in over a decade
A third of the cohort scored ATARs over 80.
In VCE studies, 7.5% of our study scores were over 40 and the median study score was 31 which is above the state average.
The results for 2021 continue the trend of improvement in our hard working students.
Given the unexpected nature of the school year there are some excellent individual results. College Dux for 2021 is College Vice Captain, Reuben Steen, who attained an exceptional ATAR of 99.9. Previously, in 2020, Reuben was outstanding in his two accelerated subjects, including scoring a perfect 50 for Chemistry. This year he flourished in English Language, French and Specialist Mathematics, scoring over 40 for each study, and Physics he attained a score of 50. What is remarkable about the performance of Reuben apart from his active involvement in College Leadership is his ongoing commitment and excellent contribution to the Aquinas Music program and College musicals.
Our graduating VCAL class of 39 students will enter into exciting Pathways for 2022 and beyond. Twenty five students have converted to full time apprenticeships; eight students have completed their traineeships and are interviewing and trialling in various employment opportunities, two students are continuing their traineeships into 2022 and the remaining students are considering changes to their industry or seeking full time employment.
Dux of VCAL was awarded to Tobi Johnson who has excelled in all aspects of her VCAL journey across school, VET and in the workplace. A number of our students were also acknowledged for their excellence in VCAL by our SBAT partner atEast.
In recognising our high achievers, we would like to acknowledge all students who committed fully to their studies and made the most of their opportunities for two years when conditions were far from normal. As a community we are proud of the achievement of our 2021 graduates, their resilience and application to their studies.
Thanks to our Aquinas teachers who responded so positively to the challenges posed by remote learning over the past two years for their continued dedication and care. These results are also a credit to our College families for their outstanding support of their children and their classmates, so much more obvious during remote learning. This was integral in their success.
