House Leader, POL 3

Aquinas College is a Catholic Regional College for young people in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people. Within this Catholic identity, the College reflects the life, work and teachings of Jesus Christ and the evangelising mission of the Catholic Church. Inspired by our Catholic tradition, our vision is to be an excellent school. We are committed to providing a child safe environment and ensuring that all in the College community are safe, respected, empowered and supported.

Commencing in January 2026, Aquinas College wishes to employ twelve dynamic and suitably qualified House Leaders as we launch the vertical pastoral system. The House Leader exercises a significant leadership role within the College. The role carries with it specific responsibilities with respect to the development and management of students and staff, along with the development and promotion of the House charism. The major purpose of this role is to lead and enhance the quality of the educational life of the students in the House, ensuring that child safety guidelines are adhered to.

These Positions of Leadership (Level 3) come with a component of remuneration and time release. These leadership opportunities are available for a period of 3 years, with an ongoing teaching position associated with the appointments.

The preferred candidates will be enthusiastic, keen to engage and inspire our staff and students and able to deliver curriculum that caters for students with different learning styles.

The successful applicant will:

- Have appropriate tertiary qualifications and proven experience in delivering high-quality teaching and learning in the above areas


- Have an ability to articulate and support the Aquinas Vision and Mission for education within the context of the College’s Catholic identity and evangelising mission.


- Have an ability to lead and coordinate the activities of the House students and staff


- Have an ability to assist the personal guidance of students and promote a sense of balanced wellbeing for students.


- Have an ability to deliver excellent educational outcomes in teaching and learning


- Have a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children


- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills


- Have the ability to work successfully within a team


- Have current VIT Registration


- Have relevant permissions to work in Australia
