Year 11 Formal 2017

This year’s Year 11 Formal is to be held at Leonda by the Yarra in Hawthorn on Monday 20th November from 6.30pm – 11.00pm. The evening is an official College activity with an emphasis on formal. Students will be treated to a three course meal, a selection of non-alcoholic drinks and dancing. Naturally they all like to dress appropriately for the evening with the fashions always a highlight.

The evening is traditionally a great fun occasion where students can celebrate and relax after their exams and the trying school year is over. The overall organisation will be the responsibility of this year's SRC and they have done a wonderful job in preparation for the evening. College staff including the Mentor teachers, Mr Peter Griffin, Ms Greenwood, Ms Kane, Mrs Daley and myself will supervise the evening.

Because the event is a College endorsed function, there are certain expectations regarding dress and behaviour. Obviously the evening is alcohol free and any student arriving at the venue under the influence of alcohol will not be admitted. Smoking is also prohibited. Students are also advised to adhere to the College’s rules regarding attire. Should you be unsure of these expectations, please do not hesitate to contact me for clarification.

This workshop is presented by the Youth and Family Centre Counselling Team.  The workshop will provide a forum for parents to identify transition concerns and discuss strategies for helping their child manage the move from primary to secondary school. Parents will have the opportunity to share experiences of their own transitions and meet other parents. Parents will also meet key support staff at Aquinas College. Overall, the workshop will assist parents with preparing themselves and their child for the transition to secondary school.
Please be aware that the workshop is targeted at parents and caregivers only and not for students.  Your child will be involved in their own transition activities on Orientation Day and in their first few weeks of school next year.
For any further information on the workshops please contact Sean Miller at or on (03) 9259 3053
