Aquinas - 31 vs Luther - 13
|
The boys continue to demonstrate a high standard of netball, consistently outplaying opponents through smart play making and strong teamwork. Our focus moving forward will be building greater consistency across each quarter, particularly with decision making and pass selection; however, there were some outstanding passages of play, particularly the effective use of swings and attacking triangles within the circle, showcasing a high level of netball. Lachie G was exceptional in defence, proving incredibly difficult to beat, while Ben demonstrated excellent court awareness and smart decision-making in the GS position.

Aquinas - 28 vs Luther - 21

The boys produced a fantastic team performance to come away with a well-deserved 28–21 victory over Luther. Their teamwork, defensive pressure and composure throughout the game were outstanding, allowing them to control the contest and finish strongly. It was a great all-round effort and a well-earned win.

Our Table Tennis team went down to Luther in the opening match back after the term break. Despite the result, the students continued to compete hard, showed great sportsmanship and never gave up. It was a valuable opportunity to get back into competition, and the team will look to build on the performance in the weeks ahead.

Volleyball A

Aquinas - 2 vs Luther - 3
|
In a real tight game, Luther won the first 2 sets and then we won the next 2 sets. In the final set, the scores were level throughout the set until Luther won 3 points in a row to win the final set. Our skills improved throughout the game and we started to play volleyball as a team as the game went on. We will be better next game

We started slowly and Luther took the opportunity to win the first set off our simple mistakes. After the first set, we regrouped and played consistent volleyball, keeping pressure on Luther. We ended up winning the next 3 sets comfortably. Well done on another great win.

Tough ground conditions, wet and muddy, made for a challenging game for both sides who at times just struggled to keep their feet. As a result Luther who had far superior skills and the ability to throw forehand, backhand and hammer were able to maximise their accuracy in attack.

Aquinas - 2 vs Luther - 1
|
A solid effort by the boys, especially against a gallant Luther team and with a few of our players not available. Raph J was man of the match with two goals and his strong presence through the midfield. This squad is proving to have great depth with every line having the ability to adjust, back their skills and work as a unit even when players move positions. Even the umpire commented on the high quality football being played being the two teams. A scoreless second half was a bit flat but the boys stayed the course against a team that kept pressing and attacking. For a young team on the pitch to stay calm was very impressive, as was the class and skill shown by everyone. Well done!

Aquinas - 40 vs Luther - 37

Aquinas and Luther served up an arm wrestle for the ages in the first half of this year's Cench Cup, the two sides trading blows in a genuine mud fest out on Oval One. Luther came out hungrier after the main break, lifting the pressure through the third quarter and hitting the front, taking a three point lead into the final term. Luther struck first in the last, but Aquinas refused to fold. The boys dug in with some real grunt ball, prioritising getting it forward at all costs and wearing Luther down. Goals to King and Reynders turned the tide, and Aquinas hit the lead when it mattered most to seal the win. Best on ground honours went to Riley Frank, whose performance was central to the comeback.

Aquinas - 27 vs Luther - 21
|
Aquinas started a little shaky against Luther; however, halfway through the first quarter, they moved the ball much more smoothly and started to lead the game. Luther was always on our tail throughout the game however, Aquinas managed to keep our lead. Chloe A worked hard in the centre and was always there to take a pass. Sadie Jess moved well in the shooting circle with Tully. A great first game back for the girls.

The girls went down 41–20 to a strong Luther side in a tough contest. Despite the result, they continued to work hard, supported one another throughout the game and never stopped competing. There were plenty of positive moments to build on, and the team will look to take those lessons into next week's match.

The girls claimed a hard-fought 5 sets to 4 victory over Luther, edging the overall games 10–9 in a thrilling contest. It was a closely fought matchup from start to finish, with the team showing great determination, composure and resilience to secure the win. A fantastic team effort and a well-deserved result.

The Senior Girls A Volleyball team was involved in a thrilling contest against Luther, with the match going the distance to a deciding third set. After an exciting battle filled with momentum swings, the scores were locked at 17–17, with the result coming down to the final serve. The girls played some outstanding volleyball throughout the match, showing resilience and determination despite the many ebbs and flows. Unfortunately, Luther managed to edge ahead and claim the victory. While the result didn't fall Aquinas' way, the team's performance showed plenty of promise, and they'll no doubt be ready to bounce back and return to their best next week.

There were a few cobwebs to shake off following the holiday break, but the Senior Girls B Volleyball team quickly found their rhythm, returning to the court with an impressive 3–0 victory over Luther. Strong and consistent serving from Kiah and Gabby kept Luther under pressure throughout the match, allowing the team to control play and build momentum. It was a confident performance across the court and a great way to start the term with a convincing win. Well done, girls!
