Aquinas - 30 vs Donvale - 22

After a slow start in the first quarter, the team settled into a strong rhythm, maintaining possession and building a five-goal lead at quarter time. A dominant second half allowed us to experiment with positions and develop on-court combinations. Blake Richards controlled the attacking end with composure and vision, and it was impressive to see the level of netball this team is capable of producing when we control our tempo.

Aquinas - 24 vs Donvale - 25

It was a hard-fought contest between Aquinas and Donvale, with both teams showing great determination throughout the match. Unfortunately, Aquinas surrendered the lead in the final 30 seconds, and Donvale proved too strong in the closing moments to secure the win.Despite the result, there are plenty of positives to take away. Our Netball B team is developing into a strong and promising group. As players continue to build confidence in their positions and refine their ball skills, they have all the ingredients for a successful season ahead.

Fantastic games throughout. All players gave their best. Our players were matched against Donvale’s teams which seemed to consist of players who played table tennis professionally for years, whereas most of our team were just starting to learn the game. Nevertheless, none of our players lost heart and stayed focused and fought until the very end - an absolutely impressive display of resilience and sportsmanship. We are certain to see some excellent growth and a brilliant season ahead of us.

Aquinas - 6 vs Donvale - 23

Tough start to the season playing against a well skilled side in Donvale. We are fairly inexperienced so the first game was focused on becoming familiar with the rules and nuances of the sport and identifying our strengths so that we can refine our strategy in weeks to come. Credit to the boys they are quick learners and even within the game itself from start to finish showed some promise and development.

A solid start to the season, even with a few key players out. We came up against a very physical team in Donvale who pushed us in the first half, resulting in the score being 1 each at the break. It took a little while for us to settle in and back ourselves but the second half was a very good display of skill, teamwork and effort. A goal each to Astan, Connor and Archie, but a very good performance from everyone. Well done boys!

Aquinas Football got their EISM season underway with a convincing win over Donvale in tricky, wet conditions. A new-look 24-man squad, drawn from Year 12, Year 11, and Year 10, matched it with Donvale through an even first quarter before breaking the game open in the second, piling on a 30-point lead that held for the remainder of the match. The standout of the day was Luke Clemwow, who booted three goals to announce himself as one to watch this season.

Our girls struggled in the first quarter, finishing it down by 4 goals. With no bench it looked like it would be a struggle to get back on the game. However, the girls started to work better together as the game went on and ended up having a substantial win over Donvale.

The Senior Girls Netball team put in a fantastic effort this week, competing with only six players for the entire match. Despite being one player down, the girls never gave up, showing great perseverance, determination, and teamwork throughout the game. Their positive attitude and sportsmanship were outstanding, as they continued to support one another and compete hard until the final whistle. A terrific display of resilience that the team should be very proud of.

For our first match we played against a similarly inexperienced Donvale team who were also down on numbers. The girls did very well to stick to our structures and basic plays that had been practiced at training the week prior. Even when we dropped players off we looked like the better team, although a couple of concentration lapses cost us scores. Overall a perfect first hit out where the girls learnt a lot.

Aquinas - 22 vs Mt Scopus - 75
|
With only half a team available to play, Aquinas took on Mt Scopus in very slippery conditions. The girls came out strong with Jess Fortington showing great skill and composure scoring our first goal. The girls continued to be competitive with Evie and Ruby holding strong in the backline, creating lots of pressure on the Mt Scopus ball handlers. Unfortunately with two injuries in the third quarter the game had to be called off due to the lack of numbers. Incredible effort shown by all players under very tough conditions.
